Open Arms to International Adoption works very hard at keeping our fees low. We can keep our costs low by having only one paid staff, using volunteers where appropriate, and avoiding costly lease arrangements. By doing so, prospective families can be assured that the fees they pay cover the cost directly associated with their adoption.

Your payment to Open Arms to International Adoption includes the following:

bulletA comprehensive Adoption Planner that provides complete step-by-step instructions and helpful hints on completing the adoption journey.
bullet
Management of your adoption file
bulletPersonal guidance through the maze of Canadian and Chinese government  procedures
bulletPre-travel planning seminar to prepare you for the trip to China
bulletPost-adoption resources

While Open Arms has control over the fees it charges, there are number of fees and payments to other Canadian agencies and the Chinese authorities that are required that may vary or change. Based on past experience, prospective families can expect to pay an average of $19,000 to $20,000 Canadian to adopt a child from China. This includes the costs for:

bulletThe homestudy (approximately $2,000)
bulletCriminal record checks
bulletTranslation and authentication of documents
bulletDonation to the orphanage (US$3,000)
bulletFees to the Chinese government
bulletAir travel to China for two people
bulletAccommodation for the two weeks in China
bulletYour translator/facilitator in China
bulletTravel within China
bulletSome meals
bulletSightseeing tours in China
